Let me try and address your continuing questions about the black used on Chargers. Chrysler has but one black they offer on these and that is the Brilliant Metallic Black paint code PXR. This is a very subtle effect and in many lighting situations you can't discern the metallic. Trying to from online photos or catalogs isn't a reliable way to determine this.

Chrylser will run a nonstock color but only if the DSO is more than 100 units. In the case of CHP they only ordered 32 so a nonstock solid black would probably be doubtful. Not saying it isn't possible but the paint code I was provided by the dept was for the metallic black.

There are quite a few departments that purchase cars in a solid color then have the second color painted locally. In these cases the second color could be most anything. Numerous departments have gone this route because it's the only way to get the color combinations they want. And many of these have bought just a few all white cars and had solid black painted locally.

The only way to know for sure which, is what I do rather than guess, is to call the departments fleet garage. Someone there will know. The paint code is on the Federal Vehicle Certification sticker on the drivers door. If the car was painted locally, someone will know the color if you're willing pursue it.

This is the Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl black and white chargers ordered in Brentwood, MO. You can see some of the metallic in the sun...

thanks for the replies guys!  maybe I need a trip to California,  FRR I really  really like the metallic black you use on your cars, the effect looks so very scale correct, when I got the car I was thinking about the colors and I shined a flashlight on it and Im like thats a metallic!  the metallic flake effect was so subtle and perfect I really enjoyed it
